Let's Get the Details Straight! Welcome!

The Arlo Johnson's Blog is a landing site for three more blogs. However, I have included a record of The Sri Lankan Connection, since this connection is such a vital part of my life and ministry! The first of these blogs is Johnsons Predecessors, Peers and Descendants, and pertains to my birth predecessors, peers, and descendants! There is already a lot of information sources on the internet concerning these classifications. Since that is so, I will be able to provide you with the links to this information. Since all of this pertains to family, I find it all very exciting! I trust that you share my excitement and interest!

The second of these blogs is The Lincoln Connection, and pertains to my birth into the Lincoln family line in that my mother was the daughter of Oscar John Lincoln. He was the Great, Great, Great Grandson of Thomas Lincoln, a brother of President Abraham Lincoln.

The third of these blogs is A Fathers Point of View, and pertains to my life long work with the Church. Historically, I have been involved with the Church from my earliest childhood, but as an adult I commenced my ministry in the Church in 1951 with Pastor Ernie Siggelkow in Dapp and Jarvie, Alberta. During fifty years of pastoral ministry, Glenna and I pastored six congregations in North America, including Canada and the United States. Since concluding our pastoral ministry in 2002, currently we are traveling extensively in Missions in Canada and Overseas! You can follow our journeys on this blog! Welcome!

During the years from October, 1952 to September, 2002, Arlo and Glenna Johnson served six different congregations. Two of these congregations were pioneered by them, one in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and the other in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.

Pastor Arlo and Glenna moved to Prince George in 1978, and from their base at Prince George Pentecostal Tabernacle, they planted Westside Family Fellowship in Prince George in the fall of 1982, and continued to pastor it until the summer of 2002. In September, 2002 their son, Marlo Johnson succeeded him as senior pastor.

Pastor Arlo continues as a member of the Eldership of Westside Family Fellowship, while traveling extensively with a view of strengthening the Church by working with the Leaders of established churches, as well as in Missions Ministry both in Canada and overseas. From 1994 to 2009, Pastor Arlo has made ten mission ministry trips to the nation of Sri Lanka.

Pastor Arlo has had a proven pastoral ministry among the six congregations he served. Undoubtedly, from the ministry gifts of Ephesians 4, Arlo has a pastoral gift. It is because of this gift that he now has a pastoral ministry to pastors. From the list of motivational gifts in Romans 12, he is an Exhorter, or an Encourager! From the spiritual gifts of 1 Corinthians 12, he frequently ministers with the gift of the word of wisdom.

Pastor Arlo is motivated in his ministry by several pressing concerns that he has for the Church, the Body of Christ: 1. He is concerned that the Church experience an ever deepening unity of the Spirit (Psalm 133 and John 17).
2. He is concerned that the Church increase in the knowledge of the Word of God.
3. He is concerned thata each member of the Church function by the Spirit's empowerment in a manner similar to the earthly ministry of Jesus (Acts 10:38 and John 14:12).
4. He is concerned that spiritual fathering be developed and expressed through Church leaders just as it was expressed through Christ in his earthly ministry (John 14:8-9). As a spiritual leader functions as a spiritual father in the Body of Christ, priority is placed on relationships over organizational structure. While it is necessary that the Church operate in an organized manner, priority must be upon relationships from which proper organizational structure functions.

Pastor Arlo has one particular life verse: Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
He also has one life chapter: Acts 27, in that it is a portrayal of the storms that come to us in our journey through life, but God gives us his Word in the midst of the storm, and like Paul, we declare: "Sirs, I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me," faith not fear is to be the choice we make continuously as we walk in obedience to the will of God in our life and ministry!

Pastor Arlo is also the Board Chairman of a Non-profit Society that he envisioned in the early 1990's. In 2002, Emmaus House was opened as a Supportive Housing Unit for Seniors.
